Hi,

I have a Huawei EchoLife HG520b router, which I think came with my TalkTalk
internet connection.

I've recently bought a laptop and tried to connect using WPA/WPA2 and it
wouldn't connect.

So I changed the encryption on the router to WEP, and it now allows me to
connect . However the connection speed is crawling, running and aptitude
install sees downloads of 30kbps at best, mostly the download just hangs.

Thinking its the firmware I contacted TalkTalk, and after them testing my
broadband speed (wrong side of the router, but I humoured them) and not knowing
what firmware is, I decided to search around for an open-source alternative.

But I can't find an project that claims to support my router, so I thought i'd
ask.

Does freewrt support Huawei EchoLife HG520b?

Is there some way of determining the routers hardware, without opening it up,
to see if its a supported architecture, just with a different name?

Thanks,

Matthew
