In response to D-Wave <http://www.dwavesys.com/> s recent public unveiling of their quantum computer, I became interested in how asymmetric cryptographic algorithms, such as 1024-bit RSA and 160-bit elliptic curve, compare to the bit sizes of their equivalent symmetric counterparts; e.g. in this case 80-bits.
I found a very cool interactive site that elegantly compares these: * http://www.keylength.com <http://www.keylength.com/> FURTHER REFERENCES: * http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_size * http://www.giac.org/certified_professionals/practicals/gsec/0848.php Robert Howard, CTO Symmetric Objects Inc. 1505 North Central Avenue Suite 300 Phoenix, Arizona 85004 (602) 254-5355 HOME: 510 West Almeria Road Phoenix, Arizona 85003 (602) 253-4898
