I guess the simplest workaround is to just generate the preview.sty file and copy it into the tetex tree: http://www.ctan.org/tex-archive/macros/latex/contrib/preview/ another possibility would be to bundle it with fricas? But it's really experimental stuff. Nobody seems to use it.
