Mitar ==================================================================== World Institute for Nuclear Security (WINS) Internship Programme Completed applications must be received by August 31, 2010. The WINS Internship Programme is extended to students enrolled in a degree programme at an undergraduate or graduate school, or recent graduates. Internships are 3-6 month appointments and promote a better understanding of international policy and nuclear security. Interns match their work interest to a job 'menu', consisting of four separate categories: Information Technology, Workshop Facilitation, Nuclear Security, and Political/Press Affairs. After receipt of a completed application, Interns will be forwarded the WINS Guide for Interns, which explains the duties of each specialisation in greater detail. Interns may focus their work on one job category and will also help in other areas. Currently, WINS has one or possibly two openings for a candidate starting the week of September 6, 2010. WINS is particularly interested in candidates with a background in media creation and interactive website development or political/press communication and strategy. However, all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. Application Deadline Completed applications must be received by August 31, 2010. Eligibility * Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and must be enrolled in, or recent graduates from, a degree-granting programme at an undergraduate or graduate school. Individuals may apply up to 1 year after the completion of their bachelor´s, master´s, or doctorate degree. * A fluent (oral and written) knowledge of English is essential. Application Selection Criteria * Professional and/or educational experience in the field of nuclear security; or in fields that could contribute to WINS mission such as nuclear technology, non-proliferation and arms control, terrorism, international relations, law enforcement, security systems, or business management. * A background in media creation, interactive website development, or political/press communication and strategy. * Experience working in an international, multicultural, and multilingual environment. * Strong communication and writing skills. * Proficiency with computers and information technology. * Demonstrated excellence shown through publications, honours, and awards. * A working knowledge (especially reading and writing) of WINS languages, including: Arabic, French, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. Compensation and Benefits Interns are paid a small monthly stipend (EURO 500) to help pay for living expenses (excepting those on paid secondment from another organisation). The acquisition of the necessary visas, travel costs and arrangements, and living accommodation are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
