Thanks for volunteering! I'm replying on-list because your message
brought up a few points that might need some clarification here...

I've been thinking about this recently. The main problem I'm seeing
is that even through a few people have paid their $5 membership fee,
nobody has taken the time to call one person on the SignUpList to tell
them about the buying club. This is important, since these people
specifically requested information, and we have provided nothing.

So, a few of us are working hard on organizing these orders, and the
rest are just coasting along without helping. John Shears warned me
about this early on, and encouraged me to set up incentives to get
people to participate.

So, I'm thinking about changing terms to cost + 5% for paid members
who have volunteered some time (at least calling *one* other person
who doesn't email for the current order), and cost + 10% for everyone
else. In other words, if you don't pay your $5 to join *and* help in
some way, then you at least contribute more by increasing the capital
we have to work with. I'm also thinking we might be able to swing a
patronage refund target of 5% for active members, like REI which has
always returned about 10% to it's members. (Thus, active members
would actually get things at cost in the end, plus have a built-in
method of monitoring the financial health of the organization.)

Thanks!

Yeah, it's confusing. The idea is that people have to have PayPal
setup to be official members. I guess that's a third requirement.

Great!

No problem. Again, we don't have a deadline set for the order yet,
because we don't have enough $ committed to place it yet anyway. As
soon as we do, then we'll set and deadline and announce it. (I think
this FAQ should be added to the order page soon ;-)

Thanks!
