Hi friends,

I just upgraded the [EMAIL PROTECTED] PayPal account to display the
'business name' BuyOrganic.org instead of Jeb Bateman, and registered
for inclusion in PayPal shops (2-3 days from now) under...
"Food > General" and "Health > General."

Although, I think "Food > Services" and "Business > Agriculture" might
have been better (less crowded) choices. (I'll find out if we can
change categories later.)

Anyway, the only reason I haven't done this sooner is because I
figured it would be best to register a DBA with the city if operating
under a ficticious name. I believe that costs $10, but I don't know
if a seperate business license is also required. I'll find out.

Also, I just found out that PayPal is changing their fee structure
*again* for Premier/Business accounts. This time to 2.2% + .30 on all
transactions, which means our cost + 5% begins to loose money at
payments under $10.71. So, I'm thinking we'll have to create a $1
minimum markup, (for payments under $20). To give you an idea of how
little we actually make on the 5% deal, Laurel just made a $37.66
payment, of which $1.79 was the 5% portion. The PayPal fee was 2.2% +
.30 = $1.13. (So, we got only $0.66 of the $1.79 extra she paid...)

The way around this, (so that the buying club fund can actually grow
at a rate closer to the 5% people are paying), is to have a member
with a 'personal' PayPal account (no fees), collect the payments, and
then simply send the 5% portion in a lump sum to the buying club,
(after paying Leigh the invoice total). Anyway, that's what the Group
Money Request from Karinn will be for. (Using the quick payment form
is still okay if you prefer, but costs more to the club that way.)

Anyway, this is probably more information than anyone wanted to know.
I'll try to put it up on the wiki somewhere for better reference...

Regards,
-jeb

Did you know that I can send you money online with PayPal?

PayPal lets you pay anyone with an email address and is the world's
#1 online payment service -- it's accepted on over 3 million
eBay (TM) auctions and thousands of online shops. You can also use
PayPal to pay your friends; it's a convenient way to split the phone
bill with your roommate or send cash to someone in another country.

When you send money through PayPal, you can fund your payments with
your credit card or checking account. You won't have to worry about
your privacy, because PayPal keeps your account information safe.
Making a purchase with PayPal is more secure than mailing a check
or giving your credit card number to a stranger. That's why over
8 million people from around the world use PayPal to move money.

Signing up for a PayPal account is easy. It only takes a couple of
minutes, and if you complete the bonus requirements PayPal will
automatically add $5 to your account balance. To learn more about
