Hi Matthias!
Hi!
How are you ?
Fine, thanks.
I' am Daniel from Brazil.
I remember you.
I would like to see if you, an idea that I had. I'm know that you and other too made some hacks in the pacman (arch linux). I am finish here a Brazilian distro, that will use the pacman as package manager. But how already told you, some changes will be done. Like the extension to .pac . The "pkg.tar.gz" is too big.!!!
I made a hack for pacman that supports libarchive (http://www.archlinux.org/pipermail/arch/2005-July/005281.html). Also have a look at: http://darcs.frugalware.org/darcsweb/darcsweb.cgi?r=frugalware-current;a=tree;f=/source/base/pacman http://darcs.frugalware.org/darcsweb/darcsweb.cgi?r=pacman-i18n;a=tree http://darcs.frugalware.org/darcsweb/darcsweb.cgi?r=pacman-tools;a=tree
And other fews things. I am keep eyes in the Rubix (www.rubix-os.org) and Joshua Rubin use pacman too like the frugal peoples.
The Frugalware people are very cooperative have you informed them? I cc'ed their mailinglist (I hope it's ok ;))
Both chance the extension. My idea here are we make a Core team to develope pacman and define some "standards". This will be very health to the software and will avoid isolate works. As a team, we will have more force to make a better software. What do you think ?
Good idea. I could create a developer.berlios.de project called "Pacman Standards Project/Consortium". Maybe we can force Judd by defining standards to give us access to the pacman cvs and create a good standard for every pacman based distro.
