Yes, sounds good. I'll try to get my packages up to date now then :)
I'll also help with testing the ISOs considering the problems I had
with pre2 ;)
the candidate isos are there, here is the testing plan:
- net: vmikos (done)
- cd: alex (pending)
- dvd: boobaa/crazy (pending)
I'm downloading the DVD :P will take a bit. Also I'll do as always
en|hu installs for :
1) Default
2) kde only
3) gnome only
4) xfce4
Should be done tomorrow.
Heh does not work here :|
All I get after the 'groups' selection is :
" error: failed to parse config ( could not set parameter ) "
and I can't continue in any way. Even 'base' only gives me that error.
boobaa does it work for you ?
Hi,
Latest *iso's are working. One thing is broken and this is XFS. (
later on an workaround on howto install with XFS )
Here is what I've done testing (all installs in DE only , sry but I
have no time to test de|en|hu ):
Netinstall -> base only , 2 installs ( ext3 , reiserfs ) ( some
random -Sy of apps && groups after first boot ) - ALL fine -
CD1 -> base only 3 installs ( ext3 , reiserfs , xfs[with workaround]
) ( random -Sy of apps && groups after first boot ) - ALL fine -
CD1 -> base|net|devel|libs 1install ( ext3 ) - ALL fine -
DVD1 -> default install+e17, 2 installs ( ext3 , reiserfs ) ( tested
all Desktops [gnome,kde,xfce4,e17] ) - ALL fine - ( and BTW the fonts
looks nice on a fresh install :P )
DVD1 -> base only 4 installs ( ext{2,3} , reiserfs , xfs[with
workaround] ) - ALL fine - ( -Sy of network*+devel after first boot
and tested some network apps )
Grub got installed in MBR[*] in all installs.
* XFS won't install in MBR from setup _at all_ , all it does is to
hang forever.
To get it to install you need to :
1) get to tty2
2) killall grub
3) chroot /mnt/target
4) sbin/grub-install /dev/XXX
5) exit
6) back to tty1
More issues with XFS on reboot , some demons just random qiuts ,
segfaults. XFS is slow as hell on install :|
So IMO R.I.P :P We should ripp it off from setup for final.
vmiklos if we need more test poke ,maybe I have some time later to do
some more installs.
Anyway just for record :)
Base install only eats '338,1 MB' ( 144 packages ) and is really fast
installed 4 - 10 minutes to first reboot. ( depending on the box )
DVD1 'default' install eats '4049 MB' ( 1188 packages ) and is done
installed in like 25m - 1h ( depending on the box )
Well and I found some things we should change for final but nothing
critical. I'll poke the maintainers on this later.
crazy
So there's no need for me to download the ISOs? Sorry it took so long,
my inet is *very* slow :(
CD1+CD2 isn't tested yet. BTW if you already got CD1 just rsync it is
done in some minutes cause no big changes at all.
like :
cd the_folder_where_the_iso_is
rsync -avP
frugalware.org:/home/ftp/pub/frugalware/frugalware-testing-iso/frugalware-0.6rc1-i686-cd1.iso
./
I'm in a bit on IRC but I don't have the time right now for more
installs :)
crazy
Cool, thanks :) I'll try to test it soon.
