Hi all, In Issue 2 of the newsletter I would like to include a Tips and Tricks section. The trouble is, I don't have any content for it :) Does anyone have any ideas?
I know I'm late but here goes - TIP 1 If your X config is not working and your default run level is 4 - i.e. X - simply add '3' to the end of the grub boot command. This will take precedence over what's configured in 'inittab' and boot into a console/text only login. You can now login and correct your X config. TIP 2 Include the output of 'pacman -Qi' as part of your backup routine. If you find that a package sync/upgrade/removal breaks something you then have a record of the installed packages at a point in time. Again get the output of 'pacman -Qi', compare then (with the 'diff' tool) and you have somewhere to start in working out where things went wrong. I hope these are useful. If these tips are published and attributed to me, can you please use the name 'phayz'? Can I suggest that all published hints and tips also be published in the wiki? Regards, Russell Dickenson (AKA phayz)
