I'd like to put my name forward as the new Frugalware newsletter publisher. I appreciate the work begun by AlexExtreme and would like to see it continue. For the moment I'd like to keep things simple and continue the basic format that was used previously.
In the future though, I'd like to add new sections, including some suggested to me by Devil505. Included could be - * Highlights of recent changes - e.g. kernel upgrade * A developer interview * A user interview * A featured package/application * A HowTo article I'd also like to have the newsletter published in languages other than English. English is my native (and only) language but of course it's not everyone's native language. :) I'd need some help providing the list of security updates, also bug fixes applied to -current. I'm not a PHP developer but am willing to learn what's required to get the newsletter published. Here's an example of the content I'd put in a newsletter - START ---------------------------------------------------------- Welcome to Frugalware newsletter #zz, Month Date Year ** News * It's Back You may have noticed that it's been some time since the previous newsletter. AlexExtreme, who previously published the newsletter, has moved on to other projects. It was AlexExtreme who began the newsletter thanks go to him for doing so. I (Phayz) have taken on the task of publishing the newsletter in his place and I hope to carry on his good work. * The Party's Over :( Now that the parties celebrating the release of 0.7 (Sayshell) have ended, the developers are back at work. Some of them may have sore heads but they struggle bravely on :P As with each new release, no more security updates for the previous version - 0.6 in this case - will be released. Anyone still using 0.6 is encourage to upgrade as soon as they can. With 0.7 release, much of the focus now goes toward 0.8, yet to be named. Plans for 0.8 include - * KDE 3.5.8 * Gnome 2.2.00 * Kernel 2.x.xx ** Tips and Tricks dddddddddddddddddddddd ** Version 0.7 Security Updates The following is a list of security issues recently discovered which apply to Frugalware version 0.7 and for which updates are available. * FSAXXX - sdhfkjshkjfhkskjf * FSAXXX - sdhfkjshkjfhkskjf * FSAXXX - sdhfkjshkjfhkskjf * FSAXXX - sdhfkjshkjfhkskjf * FSAXXX - sdhfkjshkjfhkskjf ** -Current Bug Fixes A list of bug fixes applied to the -current release is available <link>here</link>. END ---------------------------------------------------------- Please consider my offer and reply if you support it. I'm not sure just when I'd be able to expand on the old newsletter's format. May you always be Frugal, Russell Dickenson (AKA phayz) _______________________________________________ Frugalware-devel mailing list [email protected] http://frugalware.org/mailman/listinfo/frugalware-devel
