VMiklos,

I want to feature a new section in the newsletter which highlights new
packages. Just as I report some statistics for bugs and requests, I'm
thinking of reporting similar statistics for packages.

I wonder, though - how do you calculate the number of new packages
since the previous (pre-)release that you quote in your announcements?
My thoughts were that a "git log --since=<date>", combined with a
grep search for "new package" might calculate the number. I know git
has a native "grep" option so perhaps I wouldn't need to pipe git's
output to grep.

Any hints and tips you might have in calculating this number would be
appreciated.

May you always be Frugal,

Russell Dickenson (AKA phayz)
