Various drivers are provided by the kernel, but you only use a small
fragment of it:
$ find /lib/modules/$(uname -r) -name "*.ko"|wc -l
3047
$ /sbin/lsmod|wc -l
106
To me, it makes some sense to compress those never-used modules.

So it should reduce the size of /lib/modules/?
That makes perfect sense, indeed.
That folder is 43M here. Didn't backup -10 so I can't compare with
uncompressed. :(
