I don't know how many of you read Joel on Software (www.joelonsoftware.com), the blog of an ex-Microsoft employee who started his own small software company a while ago; he makes general observations on the software industry as he percieves it, and it is usually fairly interesting / entertaining. Usually his writing is geared toward people already employed in some software-related field, but his latest article is entitled "Advice for Computer Science College Students."
Since I know many of us are CS majors, I thought I'd pass along the URL in case anybody is interested - it can be found at http://joelonsoftware.com/articles/CollegeAdvice.html . Even if you don't agree with everything he says, I still think it's an interesting read. >From the article: "Most colleges designate certain classes as 'writing intensive,' meaning, you have a to write an awful lot to pass them. Look for those classes and take them! Seek out classes in any field that have weekly or daily written assignments." hmmmm.....
