I wish there would be a comprehensive guide on the topic of licensing and especially the intermixing of source code from different open-source projects. What I am looking for is an implementation of a decision tree:
1) What are the licenses of my dependencies? a) BSD b) GPL c) LGPL d) Apache 2.0 etc... If a) go to .... continue with 2) if b) go to a) .... continue with etc. 2) Must all developers contribute their changes back to your open-source solution? a) Yes b) No if a) go to I if b) go to .... Pick among the following licenses: I) GPL II) BSD etc. The final leaf-node (I, II etc.) should give me an answer as to what license(s) I should consider for a give project. In fact, if such logical flow is feasible at all, this would be a cool project in an introductory programming course (written under an open-source license, of course :) Overall, licensing is such a pain. And the difficulty of this quiz is evidence of it. Alex On 9/26/07, Scott Thatcher <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I got questions 3 and 8 wrong, both involving linking or the LGPL.
