The advantage of nvidia Twinview is that stuff like xrandr still works fine. So you can adjust the resolution of the monitors, but for both monitors at the same time. And programs that are xinerama-aware recognize that its two monitors. It's really the best way to have two monitors in my experience. Games like Unreal Tournamnt and Neverwinter Nights either require complicated hacks or using this little utility called 'xgame' that opens up a new X session that can be set to ignore the second monitor. Personally I think games have a lot to gain from having two screens (ala Nintendo DS) but so far they seem to ignore them.
