Hi all!

As you might know, the beta version of Ubuntu "K" 9.10 is released. As a daily
user since the day 1 of the alpha version, I am confident to say this is the
definite time to give Ubuntu (and my personal favorite, Kubuntu) a try on your
desktop.

What makes me so excited is that the long-awaited desktop usability has matured
to the point that it's very comparable with the experience that I felt from Mac
OS (and Windows) -- the desktop is unified, and is very thoughtfully designed.

The KDE4 desktop is now really usable, beautiful, fast and thanks god it's much
more solid than it used to (sometimes I'm still getting error messages from
KBlueooth but KDE4 as a whole never crashed).

The experience on Netbooks are still not as good as it's on desktops but it's
advancing fast. I will not count on that but I'm still testing Kubuntu on my
netbook and will see when it's 'good enough' -- sadly, I don't think it is now.

I will download the Ubuntu/Kubuntu x86 version tonight and tomorrow hopefully t
hey will be done by tomorrow and we'll have some seedings on campus. I'll also
try to get x64 version mirrored but it might take a while. I will try to
release the multi-boot USB flash drive script that I used to make my USB keys.
So there are a lot of exciting things going on and... happy experimenting with
the new version!

- H.
