I think it is finally working. I think it was this bug, or one also fixed in the patch: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=517195
Anyway, the problem went away when we updated from the Samba 3.0.33-3.14.el5 package to 3.0.33-3.29.el5 Thanks everyone for your help!
