There has been a lot of debate, probably with the best of intentions, on this list recently about recovering the details of people who have been members of the AFFS.
Will the people involved in this data recovery task please remember their legal responsibilities and remember that they are not just recovering electronic bytes of data but the personal details of real people. The mud throwing, and the attitude of some people, over the last few days has, I suspect, convinced many ex members of the AFFS they there is no way they any longer want to be associated in any way with the AFFS and will be EXTREMELY ANNOYED if their personal details, even if just their email address or acknowledgement of their past membership, was passed to ANYONE outside of the exAFFS committee and would DEFINITELY become very angry if their details were passed on to any Third Party trying to start a new version of the AFFS. Do not assume automatic consent to members details being passed on to Third Parties! After all the recent mud throwing I feel that if the AFFS is going die many people would now prefer it's membership list to die with it. Will the people trying to recover the AFFS Membership List please therefore bear in mind their legal responsibilities regarding how they handle this data and be sensitive about what they do with it. You are dealing with the personal information of real people not just bytes of data!
