David Latore wrote: "some versions of Glassfish Might fail to deploy the server correctlydue to what it seems like a glassfish bug." That explains it. That must be why the posted examples fail to allow clients to connect in non-SSL and SSL mode. Glassfish IS our app server. This Glassfish bug must be why the posted examples do work for others (other containers used). Eureka! Thank you, David, that explains what's going on. The bug only occurs when the ServletContainer is running. When you run FtpServer from a main method, it CAN be connected to by clients. Unfortunately, we can't switch to Tomcat because it is not an Application Server--only supports web applications, not J2EE apps. We are constrained to Glassfish. Well, I will let you know if the latest post works. If not, there is no choice, we'll just have to discard the work thus far and find another FtpServer or write my own. _________________________________________________________________ Store, manage and share up to 5GB with Windows Live SkyDrive. http://skydrive.live.com/welcome.aspx?provision=1?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_skydrive_102008
