Matt

The original Flash app was probably built more than 12 months ago.

Since the Central components are almost the same as the original V1 components with a Halo skin applied I decided to rebuild rather than recode as I'm a lot more familiar with coding ActionScript OO than I was when the app was first attempted.

To author for Central I began with the template that's supplied as part of the SDK. It's got a frame rate of 21 fps and it's got skeleton AS1 code for the basic Central architecture.

I authored the whole thing in Flash MX 2004 Pro, setting my publishing settings to target player 6, AS2 to keep my options open but chose to ignore the optimise for r65 setting that I've see referenced. Previous tests of mine seemed to indicate that these settings would work.

I've been using Joey Lott's AS2 reworking of the MM Flash Remoting APIs, I've used it since he made available to the FMX04 beta testers.

The actual authoring was then pretty straight forward, the only thing that I did was (I'm trying to remember why but assume that it's because it worked) make use of the Central onActivate() method to locate the initialisation code for Flash Remoting.

The rest of the code for the app was laid out in a pretty normal fashion.

It's a little late, I'm hoping that my memory has served me well.

I'm happy to answer any other questions that those of you on the list might have.

Andrew

Great work Andrew !

Maybe you can share a bit of the development process with us?

Was there much work in converting/upgrading the existing one?
