If it's just a short email out to people, I'd just do it with a loadVariables script 
in the 
background.

It's cheap, easy and fast.

Don't bother with a getURL, there is no point in going to a new window, when you can 
do it 
behind the scenes with Flash (better option).

XML - Why get complicated if you don't have to?

Flash Remoting - Again, why get complicated if you don't have to.

That being said - if you want to have a dabble in a new area - then this could give 
you 
opportunity to get some hands on experience.
