I hadn't read that page in particular, but I am familiar with the concepts.
You are right, I am firing off functions in that manner. The documentation
didnt indicate textfields having such events, I was hoping somebody had a
cool workaround. Even firing off events in child movieclips, let alone
textfields is doing my head in. I just cant seem to find any documentation
on how to manage events in movieclips inside movieclips inside movieclips
etc etc.

So your links look like "<A HREF="asfunction:functionName"> - this
doesn't work like a normal event with listeners etc, have you read this:
