I agree that unofficial Windows patches are a bad thing, but not for the
reasons you mention. My primary concerns would be that it changes the
gut feeling people have upon receiving mail telling them to install
patches from "this might be fishy" to "it worked last time, so why not
try it". I.e. it helps those who take the social engineering vector.
