I think you might want to check that: while a .50 round can easily be sent 7+ 
km, 
as far as I know the greatest distance for a confirmed sniping kill is just 
over 2 km 
(and was done by a Canadian, as it happened).

Yes, but a .50 rifle can also be used to beat people to death.

[1] Hmmmm.  Given the other thread about prison populations, doesn't that
