Greetings. I realize that most observers may have difficulty deciding whether they should laugh or cry at this one, but I'd still urge a few minutes spent reading and viewing the materials from the bizarre: "Neighborhood Network Watch" -- http://www.dhsnnw.org This appears to be a private organization -- the domain is registered with an e-mail address of "jollyrogerjonesy" -- which claims an association with the Department of Homeland Security. They promote the monitoring (packet sniffing, etc.) of open Wi-Fi networks, along with the analysis and reporting of contents to locate "terrorist activities" and other network-based evil. Amusing FAQ at: http://www.dhsnnw.org/faq.html Map of "terrorist hot spots" in NYC (based on keyword analysis of monitored traffic, apparently): http://www.dhsnnw.org/fallfindings07pg7.html Hilarious YouTube info video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=fI6CCulapyQ Admittedly, all of this has much the feel of an elaborate April Fools' Joke. But it isn't ...
