Well, I don't know about the microscope, but I really like my Nokia
5190.  (There's also the 5180, for European use.)  It's not quite just
a telephone; it has a clock, a minimal phone book, but that's about it.
Not even a calendar - the clock has no date, just the time.

        You can't get anything that primitive here, all the phones are
        clamshell, come with enough bells and whistles to start a brass band
        5 or 8mpixel camera, email, web, apps (flash or java or something)
        etc.

        I _think_ you can make phone calls with them too, but that might be
        a delusion.

According to google you can get motofone f3 in Japan too. It has segmented display with big characters and is almost impossible to use for communicating via sms (because it can't display all the characters matrix display can.).
