I believe this is true.  That's why I haven't used a store-boughten 
encyclopedia in 
decades.

(There seems to be some experimental evidence in this regard.  Researchers are 
trying to ship a copy of Wikipedia faster than the speed of light.  They 
believe it 
should be possible, since no actual information is being transmitted.)
