Looking to the US constitution, all these arguments about privacy can be
taken from the 5th Amendment. In the States you have a right to remain
silent and it should not indicate guilt. This is an old philosophical
debate with good arguments on both sides.
Re-arguing it is always good -- especially in a society such as that of
the US where it is a right held sacrosanct. But it is simply moot in the
case of privacy - as the issues today are on whether it even exists or
can be expected to exist under certain conditions.
