(Oh, $&!+. Did I just violate copyright by the parody in the subject line?) (I particularly love the comment: "Dear Mr. Hon: "I represent the great-great-great-great-great-great grandchildren of Jonathan Swift, who own the copyright on the phrase "modest proposal." Your recent article trades on Mr. Swifts work of satire, and is in clear violation of this copyright, and therefore we demand that you immediately pay royalties. "Hoping that this finds you well" ) (Also: "mike n "dude, what drugs are you smoking? i hope you are being sarcastic. eternal copyright is by far the most absurd, ignorant idea i've read about in a long, long time. as louis ck has recently proven, if you make a great piece of art without copyrights and give it to the people at a good price, then they won't steal it. they will support the artist. "ALL artists steal whether they are conscious of it or not. no artist lives in a vacuum. hell, steve jobs admitted to stealing ideas for apple. then he got mad when people tried to steal from him. that's what copyright protects- greedy corporate aholes that want to monopolize the creative process. "the only motivations for eternal copyright are greed, hypocrisy, and ignorance. it's that simple. "ideas are meant to be shared, not locked up and hoarded. and if they are good ideas, then most people don't mind supporting the creator so they can continue making more ideas." "TimFootman "Mike, Google the phrase `A Modest Proposal'." ) ====================== (quote inserted randomly by Pegasus Mailer) [email protected] [email protected] [email protected] If you want to improve, be content to be thought foolish and stupid. - Epictetus (55 AD - 135 AD) victoria.tc.ca/techrev/rms.htm http://www.infosecbc.org/links http://blogs.securiteam.com/index.php/archives/author/p1/ http://twitter.com/rslade _______________________________________________ Fun and Misc security discussion for OT posts. https://linuxbox.org/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/funsec Note: funsec is a public and open mailing list.
