Turning this around, the "Big Leader's" grandfather was going to go to war over not being part of the '88 Olympics. It took some interesting military build up to keep his sensitivities in check. So when you say "it is not their style," I would say it is very much matching some of the antics that come out of North Korea. The "Big Leader's" father had a special operations force that would go into Japan and kidnap girls. Ordering a humiliate, trash and burn, is well within the behavior profile.
