i'm posting this reply public for a few reasons:
1. this show is still being shared, and its generally being shared
most of the day.
2. since i am sharing at work (and our dsl connection has been somewhat
flaky) there have been times i've had to take it down for part of the day.
3. right now i have about 10+ shares on furthur, but only 3-4 downloads
allowed at a time (b/c of the said suckiness of my office's dsl
connection). and since i'm behind a firewall i cannot create download
chains, thus my machine only serves 3-4 file shares at a time, and if
those are taken up, then i'm all full and you have to wait your turn.
be patient. one of these times, you'll connect to my machine and finish
the file set. or maybe someone else who downloads it will reshare it. or
maybe one of the developers will make a firewall machine able to start
download chains and thus firewall machines will share faster. but be
patient
the main reason i'm sending this out to this list, is to once again remind
people to be patient. there are bugs in furthur. people aren't running
their servers full time, and some people are hosting and then stopping
after a little while. this is *not* the finished product. right now the
purpose of the furthur network is to test furthur. getting music along
the way is nice, and i certainly hope people are enjoying the music that
they do get (and trust me, there are a few file sets that i have in my
partials that have since disappeared that i'd love to complete too).
however, in the short term, file sets will dissappear, downloads will have
errors, and you might not be able to finish a download. the furthur team
is obviously trying to fix the problems as fast as they can.
and think about it this way: how small is the furthur network right now
compared to how big it'll be when its done? and how much music have we
seen on here? even if some of its only been up for a little while before
it was removed? when furthur is bigger, you'll all be able to get the
music you want. so be patient, you might have to wait until furthur is
finished, but you'll get it.
in the mean time, enjoy what you are getting, and keep sending in those
bug reports and keep testing furthur.
