All,
The number of e-mails going across the list is decreasing, is it safe to
assume that most of you are having success downloading shows with
Furthur? I had great success with 1.2.7, and I currently have about 10
complete downloads. The live release is getting very close, so it is
essential that you all continue to let me know when anything quirky happens
in Furthur.

Version 1.2.8 is available, with the following enhancements:

1) Fixed the 150 bug. (again)
2) Fixed multiple download windows being launched for the same file. This
bug also had the side effect that some people's shared show list displayed
42 current uploads, when there were actually 42 upload windows on another
person's computer.
3) Fixed the "Awaiting host" message that would hang
indefinitely. Downloads from a firewall computer have been streamlined to
connect faster and more consistently.
4) Added a 420 reference to the Help->About window.
5) Removed many of the columns from the search result table and partial
table. Hidden values can still be viewed by double clicking a row.
6) Changed the table color back to white, due to popular demand.
7) Columns can be reordered and resized, and the changes will be remembered
after restarting Furthur.
8) Added a touch of grey to the chat panel. Buttons that are not valid
will be greyed out.
9) Fixed the bug which would sometimes cause nicknames to be displayed
twice in the chat name list.
10) Added the ability to set the maximum upstream bandwidth that Furthur is
allowed to use. Note that limiting your upstream may also limit your
downstream, as the two are very dependant. It also takes about a minute
for the limit to take effect right after setting it.
11) Added a nice popup dialog giving setlist.com credit if your setlist is
auto-populated.
12) Made a number of performance enhancements to speed up search results.
13) Added a message window that will notify you when a new version becomes
available.
14) Fixed the memory leak associated with multiple searches.

        Existing critical issues:

1) I believe there is still an existing memory leak that affects some
computers, I'm working on it.
2) The partial downloads window is still inconsistent with
percentages. Don't trust them yet.

A couple of important notes moving forward:

** Hopefully you will soon decide that Furthur is working really well, and
we should try to get more people sharing on the network. Please hold off
on spreading the word for a little while longer. I've eluded to the fact
that we have expectations of a huge community with thousands of people
sharing tunes. The success of Furthur is dependant on a live release with
all the bugs fixed, and we need to keep the network small until we've all
decided that it totally works and it's ready for prime time.

** Because some of the bugs we're finding are obscure, only pop up
periodically on certain people's computers, and are hard to reproduce
consistently, version 1.2.8 will limit search results to non-firewalled
computers running 1.2.7 or higher and firewalled computers running 1.2.8 or
higher. The network may appear to be smaller, but it is important that
this late in the test phase we make sure not to waste time worring about
bugs that are related to issues that have already been fixed.

** The following are critical issues that I believe are fixed. If you ever
encounter any of the following, please let me know:

1) The 105 error
2) Having the wrong show get downloaded
3) 100% CPU usage for an extended amount of time
4) Infinity Kb/sec or KB/sec
5) Corrupt files or MD5 checksums failing
6) Multiple download windows being opened for the same show

I really think that the 150 bug is gone for good. Alex Howe gave me a
perfect description of the problem that leads me to believe that on some
systems, Furthur was deleting the tpm files before it got the chance to
assemble them. This would definitely cause the 150 error to arise. Please
let me know if you see it again.

Thanks to everyone for the continued support. I hope you're enjoying some
great new tunes!

                - Jamie
