All,
I was able to find and resolve
the following 2 critical bugs:
1) Download would repeatedly stop within a minute
when resuming from a partial. This was happening when the saved
host was offline, but a backup host was available. The client would
set an error flag signifying that it couldn't connect to the original
host, and the flag wasn't cleared upon connecting to the new
host.
2) Partials still wouldn't connect at times,
but searching and pressing download again would connect. This was
happening when the saved host was a firewalled computer which was
offline, but backup hosts were available. The client would find the backup hosts but would try to connect to them
as if they were firewalled, similar problem to the previous.
Has anyone seen a download go
over 100% in 1.3.6? Again, pretty sure I solved this, but I just wanted
to check.
Thanks for the great comments
recently. It was suggested by Paonia that we do more rapid releases as
bugs are fixed. Remember, you don't have to upgrade, but for those who
don't mind, it will help us to determine if fixes worked and it will probably
work better for you.
In case you're one of the new
people to start using Furthur, the recent emails were right on the
money. This is obviously beta, and there are obviously bugs. The
users are helping us to streamline the program which is greatly appreciated,
and they're getting some tunes in the process. If you get frustrated
with Furthur, please don't get forever discouraged, just take a break and
check back at a later point for the live release. The beta
test was originally intended to be 20-30 users, and over time more people have
joined in. This is certaintly fine, just expect some issues.
Thanks again to everyone involved.
*** As you know, we've had some issues
deploying frequent builds to many people. Our web site transition to
furthurnet.com is not complete, so there may still be intermittent web
issues. The following upgrade options are available:
1) www.cyberial.com/furthur is the
best option. We'll make sure to avoid the situation where it displays
the new version number on the web page, but still contains a link to the old
program.
3) You
could try searching in Furthur for Format=EXE or Band Name=Furthur. I
have shared the upgrade program, but this is not recommended as it could be
dangerous. There is nothing to prohibit someone random from sharing a
virus and saying it's the new version of Furthur. In general, you should
not open .EXE files downloaded from an unknown source, music files
are obviously safe.

P.S. There was one person who volunteered a
while ago to help with development, but I lost their contact information with
my computer upgrade. If you're out there and still interested, please
let me know.
P.P.S The multiple hosts functionality that
I mentioned isn't in 1.3.7, but should be complete
soon.
