I was wondering why I wasn't getting any emails from the Fusebox list, so I logged on to the topica site to try to post. I hit the "Post" button and an error "You have been disabled by the owner of this list" came up. I can obviously just change email addresses, but I would like to know whats going on. Given this latest issue, in a long string of problems with Topica, I have decided to post my thoughts.
I really hope some of the Fusebox leaders are reading the "Forum Suggestion" thread. Out of the dozens of forum systems that I've used as both a user and admin, I think Topica's system is one of the least useful. Its nearly impossible to search past threads for information and current threads are even hard to keep track of given that each response is listed separately. I'm sure there are plenty of superior alternatives, but I particular like vBulletin: http://www.vbulletin.com/ InfoPop's Ultimate Bulletin Board: Board.http://www.infopop.com/products/ubb/index.html The fusebox Topica lists are some of the best sources of information about Fusebox, and I'm sure many a developer have been turned off from Fusebox by the poor design of the system. Its just too difficult to extract information and answers from questions without having hours to read through every post. I know you can create an app to index the posts, but thats like attaching a jet engine to your yugo because it keeps breaking down. Sure it'll fix the problem, but it'd be a lot easier to just get rid of the source of the problem in the first place. I may be out of line with these comments, but I've personally had enough of reading through 300 posts each time I'm trying to find an answer. As someone who is new to Fusebox, I can say that it really makes learning the methodology a pain in the neck. As I see it, we are using Topica because thats the way the FB community has communicated in the past. Why can't we change this? I just don't see any benefits to continuing to use such a system when so many people are obviously dissatisfied with it. With all the smart people collected here and all the resources they bring with them, it just blows my mind that we are using Topica at all. I don't have the clout to suggest switching to a particular system, but maybe some of the prime movers in this community will step up to the plate. Again, I apologize if I am out of line, but its something that needs to be said. ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: [email protected] EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?bUrFMa.bV0Kx9 Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
