I haven't messed around too much with making Webtrends read a custom log file; however, the main problem I have is not necessarily with Webtrends itself, but with IIS 5. For some reason, I cannot get it to log SES strings. It will log "normal" url query strings, but not SES. Everything shows up as index.cfm because that's how it appears in the actual log file. I ended up writing a custom solution that logs what I want it to log to a database.

WebTrends also has the "Data Conduit for Dynamic Sites" and it's available for the Web Trends product line (for WinNT/2000 and Solaris 2.6+). It's only for WebTrends Reporting Center (WRC) or WebTrends Intelligence Suite (WIS) Some Features are: - URL translation - takes complex URLs and makes them understandable from within a web activity report. The data conduit for Dynamic sites focuses on tracking content and significant data - Database lookups - allow you to include relevant data rather than meaningless alphanumeric strings in your traffic report. example: instead of knowing that Product #123 had 1000 visits, you would know that your product "Hal's propeller hat" had 1000 visits. -Store translated URLs into your Webhouse - all database lookups and translated URLs can be included directly into the webhouse database. These dynamic elemants and content can then be used as dimensions in OLAP analysis, Ad Hoc querying, or data mining. your other option is to write your own logs to your own custom log file in w3c format and then just point WebTrends to analyze THAT log file, not the web server's log file. In fact, judicious use of that and outright turning OFF of the web server's logging, if that is an option at all, will likely see a LARGE increase in the server's response time. -John Quarto-vonTivadar [EMAIL PROTECTED] ----- Original Message ----- From: "John Anderson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Thursday, April 11, 2002 6:50 PM Subject: converting fusbox style strings for WebTrends > Has anyone written a script to convert log file entries in fusebox format: > /index.cfm?action=abt.personalBio_board&bioName=ABarrett > > To something that can be understood by webtrends as a single page view. > Otherwise all my page views are to index.cfm. > > I dont want to re-invent the wheel. > > John > > > ==^================================================================ This email was sent to: [email protected] EASY UNSUBSCRIBE click here: http://topica.com/u/?bUrFMa.bV0Kx9 Or send an email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED] T O P I C A -- Register now to manage your mail! http://www.topica.com/partner/tag02/register ==^================================================================
