I've been looking for a full time position since my lay off 16 months ago. And yes it is bad out here. I'm about out of reserve cash and I even had to apply for unemployment which is about to run out the end of this month. Even working for myself which helped in the beginning but with the massive dot com failures there seems to be 100+ for every job open. In the past four months I've been to about fifty interviews and still I can get hired.
I started to work on a very short-term assignment which is helping but I've got the point where I need something a lot longer just to get caught up. The only upside is the company I'm working at can't believe I'm as fast as I am. It helps with the self confidence but not the pocket.
