There should be a 'readme' file that has an overview of the template creation process. Also, look at the code for the included template, its very simple and straightforward.
Like Lee said, this is an alpha release. I have made many improvements and bug fixes that I should hopefully be getting to Lee to post to sourceforge within the next week. (Still havent gotten cvs configured to work with sourceforge yet Lee!!) Once, this new version is released, it should be much more stable (especially on *nix OS's).
