Item two is not always practical. Our company runs on a subscription basis and automatically renews your subscription when the current delivery period is over. We must have the card on hand to do this.
Imagine your average ISP without having the information available to charge you each month. Billing becomes a nightmare and costs spiral out of control. There are many reasons to keep it but you must be very careful about the data.
