Application.cfm isn't "core" in the sense that it is required - rather,
it is "optional" and can be used to specify global variables.  That
being said, you should always have an application.cfm, even if it does
nothing.  Otherwise, CF will look for one, traveling up the directory
tree as necessary to find one (with the obvious side-effects of grabbing
an application.cfm that doesn't belong to your application).  However,
if CF never finds (after traveling to the root of your hard drive) an
application.cfm, nothing will break.

to application.cfm in fusebox 3? none of the directories in the
