PHP.net is the source for all your answers! (http://www.php.net)

But a quick answer here, too--

There is a PHP installer for windows machines, but it only installs the CGI
version, instead of the API versions for Apache, AOLserver, ISAPI and NSAPI.
The API version runs faster and supports more features than the CGI version.
It will play nice with IIS and Apache from my own experience, and I am sure it
will work with other servers that I have no experience with. There are also
some third-party installers around that will install PHP, MySQL, and Apache
all at once, if you want to get started that way. (PHP-Triad and
http://www.firepages.com.au/ are two that I have tried)

PHP will co-exist with CF, and any other app server you have running on your
web server, from what I know, as long as they are all listening for different
file extensions. PHP usually works with .php, and some often use .phtml.
Obviously you can configure it to run as .cfm to make people confused, just as
you could configure CF to listen for .asp. But I digress...

Um... yeah. GO PHP GO!!

| I notice increased conversations about PHP.
|
| What is involved as far as getting PHP on the server? What does the server
| owner/admin need to do to support PHP? Does PHP run on a Win2k server?
| Will it co-exist with, say ColfFusion server?
|
| any comments would be appreciated.
