I hate to tell you naysayers out there but this is just the way it works...
I work for a non-profit association (a specialty society for Emergency Physicians), in order to vote for a member of our Board of Directors or committees, etc., an emergency physician must be a member of the organization. Those that are not members, may not vote--they have no say in what we do or how we do it.. Furthermore, there are documents that we produce, mostly in the form of policy statements, but there are others, that are widely accepted and applied by hospitals, governments, lawyers and other medical specialties as being the standard for the practice of emergency medicine. This is very analogous to what's going on here. To have a say, you join. The biggest difference is that with the Fusebox organization, you can decide how much you want to pay in order to join (doctors are required to pay over $500 to join us).
