Subject: FB and Flash remoting
Has anyone had success in implementing these two together? I am working
on a rather large project that would benefit from using flash as the
front end. The project primarily exists of account management,
invoicing, services, resellers, and the administrative backend as well.
I have looked at pet market by macromedia - any other FB and Flash
sites? Problems, issues to be aware of?
Thank you,
Jason

Hello jegan,
I think that there is no problems to realize this. I do a test template
some times ago. You have just to prepare a lot of flash templates.
In fact I do all my front end in CFML and Javascript. It's more easy
to support. And at some moments where you want more animation you can
include flash!!
I don't know if all I wrote above will help you? If not please detail
your question!

Rich,
whether you use is later or not in production, this is one place where
the FEX core is very helpful, in development. It checks for a few common
Fusebox errors and tells you, "Hey, Bro, check your fbx_circuit file!"
I KNOW as a Fusebox developer i'm supposed to be infallible, but once in
awhile i find it very convenient to cheat a little bit.

Best thing I can suggested is to take a look at DesDev on MM's
site...particularly the architecture articles...covers some basics on how to
implement your biz logic in such a manner that access from remoting is easy
and efficient.
http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/articles/facades.html
http://www.macromedia.com/desdev/articles/ntier.html
Hope that helps!
As for integrating with FB...I'd take a look at addressing how you're
architecting your logic first...from past experience I've learned that
you'll need a different strategy then FB on the front end although not all
that different...but to be honest I don't think anyone's hit the nail on the
head just yet so you'll see all kinds of implementations.

Thanks, I'll take a look at these articles. The requirements don't call
for Flash per say, but they do call for quick access to all data for the
customer - so I thought that a flash interface 'might' accomplish that -
I just foresee a lot of screens, and flash really looks like it would
make for an attractive and efficient interface for the project, but we
may just hold off on that until version 2 ;-)
Thanks!
Jason
