Joe,

I assume you were using YTD from within the Quark application to
generate a template job file and let the HP rip merge in the data and
impose.

FusionPro on the other hand, does the data merge step. The imposition
also happens during the FusionPro composition time. One of the many
reasons for doing so is because FusionPro has its own typesetting
engine, which can typeset more sophisticated jobs.

FusionPro does utilize reusable objects, the concept that speeds up the
HP rip process siginificantly.

In the Compose dialog, you can recompose with different data set or you
can compose a selected range of record from the same data set. A lot of
time, if you rip the JLYT from the same input back to back, often the
objects (some Postscript elements and images) are still cached on the
rip, so the subsequent rip speed is optimized.

If you are a server customer, running a different set of records on
Windows involves a command line call.

I hope this information helps.

Subject: [fusionpro] JLT Files for Indigo 5000

hello

have a simple 2 page document with 40,000 variable data records. The JLT
created in Fusion Pro basically contains 80,000 Pages (40,000 2 page
spreads). We are used to making JLTs out of quark where this would be 1
2-page spread and then be linked to 40000 records in the database. Is
there any way to set up Fusion Pro do handle this? Much easier when we
need to re-run only certain records...Thank you

joe
