Yes, this is possible. Make sure they provide you with a file that includes the background. Use that to build your template. When you upload it to the Manager click on the "Frames" tab and uncheck the box called "Enable for Press Composition" under the "Background" row. Leave the box for "Proof Composition" checked. Complete your configuration and then publish the template. What this does is remove the background from the output file you receive even though the user sees the background in the proof. Your output file will only consist of the variable information in position.
