Ronnie,

Try setting your stack so that it fits evenly in a chunk. In your
example, if you have stacking in the first position set to 250 and then
2 up and 2 across (or vice versa) you can set your chunk size to 1000
and should then get 10 output files.

Subject: [fusionpro] Desktop Compose into Multiple Files

Multiple Files from FP Desktop Composition

I have tried to compose a file using Fusion Pro Desktop 4.1p1d into
multiple PDF files. The goal is to take a 10,000 record job and split it
into 10 different pdf files while doing the composition.

The Output tab allows me to choose to split up the file via the 'output
to multiple files' option. However when I try to use this option during
the composition I get an error in the composition log file telling me
that "The number of records requested in a chunk is not compatible with
the imposition setting. The number of records in a chunk has been
adjusted."
-- The result is I get one large file with all the records in one file.

I have played with my settings in the FPI (imposition) file. I get no
error msg. and I get multiple files (as expected) when I turn of all
Stack Settings. The problem here is I need to keep my stack settings on
so that when the file is printed I don't get just records 1-4 (its a
4-up
imposition) on the first sheet and 5-8 on the second sheet etc. making
for a nightmare in cutting/sorting land.

I was expecting to use Infinite stack settings, but was willing to
calculate the stack number needed. I tried entering in the stack number
I thought I needed and ended up with the same error msg, yet I got 2
files,
#1 with most of the job and #2 with the last 3 records.

Questions:
1) Does the 'output to multiple files' options work with a 4-up (duplex
or
simplex) imposition setting?

2) What settings do I need to change in order to utilize the 'output to
multiple files' choice while composing a file?
