Meanwhile, a coalition of conservative groups, including the Institute for Justice and the American Civil Rights Institute, sent a letter to all 50 state attorneys general yesterday, urging them to examine state and local policies and do away with affirmative action programs. African-American legislators were outraged that the coalition was adopting the language of the civil rights movement from the 1960s in its campaign against affirmative action. Rep. Danny K. Davis (D-IL) said, "...It's Robin Hood in reverse .... They are trying to make people who are disadvantaged more disadvantaged."
