The red-hot news that broke this lunch-time on the radio is that
photographs showing at least one Iraqi, bound, gagged and carried in
netting from the arms of a fork-lift truck has been handed into the police.
Also, there are photographs showing rape being carried out in front of
Iraqi civilians. The photos were being processed from a film handed in to a
photoshop by a soldier just returned from Iraq. Whether he was from the
same battalion whose officer is already under investigation for
pistol-whipping an Iraqi civilian, I don't know. However, the Ministry of
Defence announced an immediate enquiry. Usually, the MoD will resist
enquiries for months, if not years, so this is obviously seen as something
which will add more coals of fire on Blair's head.
