Just a thought upon rereading this.   My discussion about English opera was
gleaned
from an interview with an English director who came here and pointed out the
desert
we live in concerning our national language and support for composers.   He
was the
one who told me about the renaissance in chamber opera in England as he was
quite
proud of his part in it.   I in no way meant to take away from any English
person on
this list by telling them about their own country.    I'm working on that.
Trying to
be nicer and more "genteel" without being obsequious or prevaricating.
