Amazing that another 87.5 billion gets forked over by Congress, mostly for
Defense, without anyone demanding, What ever happened to the 3.3 trillion
dollars that the Department of Defense allegedly misplaced due to
post 9-11 management problems!
Has anyone heard more about it? It seems to have become yet another of
countless occurrences that will never dare be brought to light because of whom
it might implicate. But the public (whose money it really is) and/or
its representatives has all but thrown in the towel over accountability related
to any government department, and that is the real tragedy. If this were some
poor Mom collecting Welfare caught cheating over additional income,
her funds would be cut off at once. If there had been an over-payment to a tax
payer, the mistake would be found almost instantly. Congress should have
demanded accountability for the missing money before entrusting further funds to
incompetents or more likely competent thieves.
Accountability is suffering big time, the bigger that corporations and
governments become, but with the introduction of Homeland Security, Patriot
Act(s)and Total Info. Awareness, questioning these egregious losses seems
tantamount to threatening American integrity or safety, whereas the
opposite is true. Even Bush at least pretended to demand accountability of
Enron. Is he afraid to take on the mighty military, or is he in on or privy to
something really big? It smacks of cover-up, whatever the case.
Curious as ever,
