Computer programmers and managers and entrepreueurs have sufficiently little "culture" in genreal that it is entirely plausible they mistook one symbol for the other. Meanwhile,Edward Tufte has pulished a little pamphlet analyzing the negative effects of MS PowerPoint on persons' thinking.
